Hereabouts.

Share where you are and what you're up to, for a little while, with the people you choose.

Hereabouts is a free app for iPhone and Android. Post a quick check-in to your networks of friends, and it disappears, location and all, when its time is up. Privacy and safety controls are built in from day one.

Hereabouts is in development and coming soon to the App Store and Google Play.

The Hereabouts feed, showing check-ins from friends in a trivia group, a soccer team and a book club, each with time left before it disappears. — Your friends' check-ins in one feed

Writing a new post: a short message, a place, who to share it with, and how long until it disappears, from 1 to 12 hours. — Pick who sees it and how long it lasts

The Nearby Activity map, showing public check-ins within 5 miles and a Say Hereabouts button for asking to connect. — See what's happening nearby

Screens from the app in development. The people and posts are made up.

How it works

Check-ins that expire Choose 1, 2, 4, 8 or 12 hours. When the time is up, the post and its location are deleted. Posts can't be extended.
Private networks Share with all your networks, one network, or nobody but friends. A bar crew, a soccer team, a book club: you decide who's in each.
Nearby, when you want it A General check-in shows on the Nearby map to people within 5 miles. They can tap Say Hereabouts to ask to connect, and you approve or ignore it.
Privacy built in No background location tracking. Go invisible any time. Save Private Places like home or work, which never leave your phone, and get a warning before you post from one.
Safety tools Block or report anyone. Reports go to a real person who reviews them.
For adults Hereabouts is for people 18 and over.
